Personality:

Reiko Date is a girl who is fiercely independent and self-sacrificing. Because no one wanted to help her during her first year at school, she decided that relying on other people was weak and that all the girls around her were weak so as the only strong one around, she had to protect them all and do everything without the help of others. While she may have recently admitted that she doesn't want to be alone and has allowed herself to hang around other girls, she still tries to do things on her own because she doesn't want to trouble them. Reiko would put herself through any pain for the sake of someone else, and spent years allowing herself to be abused because doing so could've eventually helped others. She takes this to such an extreme that she planned to put herself through more by marrying one of her abusers so she could utilize his influence to prevent other girls from being treated as she had been. Reiko is the kind of person that would jump in front of someone being attacked and take the blow without hesitation. Reiko puts her happiness second to that of the girls around her that are suffering, trying to keep them away from her to protect them and letting them think badly of her because she pretended to be completely and utterly self-absorbed.

Reiko is clever and manipulative. She spent a good deal of time manipulating her male owners to get herself into the position she wanted, whether that meant pretending to enjoy her forced servitude or trying to bore him until he finally gave her away. Around girls, she pretended to be doing this for selfish reasons, because she knew it would keep the boys from getting suspicious of her. If she has time to, she'll always analyze the situation and decide how to act to get what she wants out of it. Once she joined forces with Sora, she often acted as a voice of reason for the girl and used her experience manipulating the boys to help Sora accomplish her goals efficiently.

Reiko has a lot of trust issues, but when she does grow to trust someone, she will support them through anything. Sora is the first person to earn Reiko's trust, and while Reiko didn't like her at first(because she saw her as nothing more than a kid trying to play hero), Reiko eventually becomes very loyal to her. Proof of this came when Sora drew Reiko's weapon from her chest after she saved her and became her owner--a small star appeared at the end of the flail. This star is proof that the weapon and owner believe in each other. Reiko may have trouble expressing her feelings, but she will not hesitate to remind Sora of how much faith she has in her if she feels Sora needs to hear it.

Reiko cares deeply for other people, but she has great difficulty expressing it--to use anime stereotypes to describe it, she's tsundere. The lengths she goes to and all of the things she willingly endures to protect others serve as proof of how she puts the wellbeing of others before herself, yet she always tries to make sure that they are not aware of her efforts. She originally saw depending on other people as weak, so even after joining Sora and her friends, it's still very difficult for her to open up to others. Reiko often bosses the other girls around, but does so because she cares for them--she wouldn't want them to be doing dumb things and getting themselves into trouble.
